Power Grid Corporation of India Limited is the state owned electric utility which is also known as Central Transmission Utility. It is the prime body for bulk power transmission. It has its head quarters in Gurgaon, India. About 50% of power transmission of India comprises of power grid network. It was established in 1989 and due to its excellent performance powergrid was awarded with Miniratna-I PSU category in 1998.
With its growing contribution in power related fields and integrated development of resources the company was conferred with the category of Navratna in 2008. It is managing the establishment and maintenance of power transmission infrastructure in order to develop the power sector strategically. Its mobility and excellent approach results in smooth and reliable grid operation across the nation.
Powergrid is also planning to create a national grid in order to provide strong and reliable power structure which ensures maximum utilization of power generating resources and correction of uncertainty in power plants. This company is continuously working towards the improvement of efficiency and management of various grid operations all over India.
